About The Artwork

The warrior huntress Pallas is juxtaposed/superimposed with my daughter Maia arched against a graffiti covered Florentine Wall (Florence, Italy). Pallas, also known as Camilla or Florencia is a figure from the painting “Pallas and the Centaur “by the Italian Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli, c. 1482. It is now in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. Pallas is a figure of reason, restraining the beast of our nature and a personification of Florence. My daughter was born in Florence Italy and this is part of my series of Exposures. The paint is relatively smooth with visible brushstrokes and glazed areas of color. High-quality Williamsburg and Old Holland Oil paints are used. Canvas mounted on Heavy duty stretcher strips.
