About The Artwork

This painting depicts a specific hypothetical moment when a singularity opens in the payload bay of a space shuttle. Intentionally mysterious, the depiction represents the inevitable conflict between human innovation and random natural occurrence. However, the chaotic event is portrayed in a balanced composition, to evoke the silence of the event and the way it is locked in time in a way that cannot be measured on any scale.

Yotam Zohar was born in Jerusalem. He earned a BFA from the Ohio State University and an MA from Eastern Illinois University, in the United States. His work has been exhibited across the USA and in Europe. He has also produced artwork and props for motion pictures. Zohar consistently earned distinction for his paintings as a student, during which time he created bodies of work that addressed portraiture, the female subject, and the critical value of art forgery. He has since made a name for himself as an educator and a promising talent with his hybrid style of painting, bringing contemporary themes to his unique take on Classical technique. His current body of work focuses on connecting candid public subjects with art viewers through paintings adapted from digital photographs. Zohar lives and works in the San Juan Islands, in Washington.
