What a joy to live and to be aware that you are one of the cohorts of daredevils who are filling the old world with lies and.. laying the first brick in the foundation of the future... Petro Kolesnyk, Teren, 1959 This picture is dedicated to the future and the past, defenders, victims of imperialism and dictatorship directed against the independence of Ukraine and its enslavement. Do you know what the word "Foundation" means? The foundation, beginning, or basis, which are language, history, culture, army, and faith, is the defense wall of any country, the guarantee of its stability and existence. This is the main concept of my painting. The work is imbued with symbolism. Thus, the icon of the "Mother of God" and "Jesus Christ" is a sign of faith and protection. The baroque arch on the way to the temple is a symbol of Ukraine's existence in history. A book is a knowledge and wisdom, and a blue periwinkle is an immortal memory of the deceased. Colors are integral because black and red colors are the Ukrainian land and the blood shed on it in the difficult struggle for freedom and independence. A dress, a sword, and a cloak, which seems to protect and hold close to itself - in the colors of our flag. The coat of arms of Ukraine is a symbol of the continuity of the traditions of our territory, as well as an inseparable connection with it. One of the important allegories is the Kyiv Child, which personifies the fact that since the ancient times of Kyivan Rus, Ukrainians took care of the above and most importantly - always knew how to defend themselves. We remember our history, build the future, protect our language, history, culture, and lands, and believe without a doubt in our victory!
