Subject: The painting depicts the Eduardo Ocón Auditorium situated in the Parque de Málaga with its sculptural birds in flight created by Jaime Pimentel, built in the early 1960s. El Palmeral de Las Sorpresas, designed by Junquera Arquitectos and Liliana Obal completed in 2011 is also represented. Description: This painting celebrates the beauty and fluidity of the wave, deployed here in man-made forms that are at once elegant and profane in their attempts to mimic nature. A striking hyperbolic cosine structure takes center stage with its crisp geometry and monochromatic palette juxtaposed against the free flowing saturated tones in the foliage of its park setting. A waveform canopy in the background echoes the stage and shows the continued pursuit of humanity to capture the poetry and beauty of the natural world in our architecture and design. Process: Plein-air drawing, painted in the studio.
