About The Artwork
I am drawn to construction sites, the ways materials are laid out, and how the bright colours and simple shapes look a lot like toy blocks. It is especially striking in the city, and during the winter, when there are not a lot of bright colours to be seen in nature. This painting has an element of darkness with the structure that is in disrepair in the foreground, but the bright elements that we sense off in the distance are both playful and hopeful. The painting is gallery wrapped, with painted edges, and is ready to hang without a frame.
