About The Artwork
Look at the skid marks - inscription reads The Socialist Republic and its Firewomb. Along with other paintings including - Scarecrow Brains and Being Human and Folding the Physical, this painting is my twisted response to my love and admiration of Socialist poster designs - particularly the work of the Constructivists. Had an obsession with just looking at political posters and wondering what the various words used in the titles actually meant. Turns out some statement really make no sense out of context so I made a few of my own up based on my own distorted political viewpoint........this series was really important to me as it helped me to figure out how I want to use flattened perspective in my work..... You Black Emperor.....Wim Wenders....Faust...... ..Sparks........Ravi Shankar..........sometimes these influences are there sometimes I merely start with words and work my way along to some kind of earthly resolution....I make music these days more than I paint but I go about the creative process with alot of immidiacy...constantly recycling bits and pieces... thoughts and sounds...often resulting in poetic statements which rattle around until they become solid things....
