A contemporary semi abstract seascape which has texture and expressionist quality. It has been created using overlays of earthy tones giving depth, contrast and character to this unique coastal image. Delicate shades of lilac, green, blue and burnt umber have been used to obtain this harmonious style of painterly artwork. The paint is laid initially with my hands, various art tools and mediums, finding I can manipulate the paint with ease and creating added interest. The artwork has been painted on primed cotton canvas and finished with satin varnish for its protection. The chunky solid wood frame is of warm white to complement the art. It will make a dramatic and interesting focal point in your home or office space and will suit most interiors including both modern and traditional, creating an eye catching feature.

Janet works from her studio in South Cambridgeshire, as a freelance artist, supplying semi abstract, impressionistic and fine art to publishing companies worldwide. Her paintings are sold from galleries throughout the South of England and internationally via the web. She has become a much recognized artist for her subject matter and her unique creative style of work. ʺI enjoy experimenting with all mediums but watercolor and acrylic are the ones I find most satisfying. Depending on the subject, I find that it would either lend itself more to the delicate touches of watercolor or to the stronger and more vibrant colors of acrylic paint and each would allow me to translate a ‘mood’ a subject might evoke”. I have come to realize that it’s not ‘what you paint’ that is important, but ‘how you paint it’. So in my interpretation of painting a subject, I try to maintain the essence of what first inspired me to paint it. For me, what is fundamental in my paintings are light, subtlety of color, harmony, depth and drama, while still staying true to the subject. In my finished work, I hope that I have conveyed to the viewer a sense of mood, which was present at the time of painting it.ʺ
