This painting is on canvas board which is rigid and doesn't need to be stretched for framing. It was inspired by The Scream by Edvard Munch. Munch said that he sensed an 'infinite scream passing through nature' and that is what the painting is all about. However, maybe he just realised that he had left the house without his trousers on and was showing the world his underpants? Or maybe he was scared of dogs and didn't like the cute Pug dog sitting on the bridge? I prefer the underpants theory. I have signed this painting on the front and the back.

I was born in Arbroath, Scotland but was raised in Crosby which is a suburb of Liverpool, England. I now live 20 miles north of Liverpool in the seaside town of Southport. I have worked in IT for the last 25 years and have always wanted to spend more time painting and sewing but have never had the time. Luckily I was made redundant from my job last year and since then I have been painting and sewing constantly. I like to add humour to my art and I have dabbled in stand up comedy and performed at the Edinburgh festival as part of a double act called 'Penguin'. I like to take well known art work and add a comedic twist and also a dog or two. I also like rabbits and budgies. I love sewing and see quilts as painting with fabric. I started making quilts after reading 'Patchwork' by Kaffe Fassett. This book is a constant inspiration to me. I use acrylics to create paintings but also like using ink pens and adding colour with inktense pencils. I sell cards of my work in my etsy shop. I am inspired by Michael Sowa, Rory Dobner and my dog Henry. I also admire the craftsmanship of Faberge. I have recently started making quilts from my paintings by printing them onto fabric. I am very excited about this as I feel my work is evolving on a daily basis.
