I love the dreamy world of fairytales, sagas and teachings that come in the form of stories. During the past ten years, I've researched and explored archetypes, beliefs and different goddesses from the history many of us love to use as inspiration in our daily lives – to perhaps create a more sacred, celebratory aspect to the mundane. One of the most controversial, yet dear aspects of femininity for me is the loving mother, or the light goddess of pure grace. She represents our human connection to the source energy, self-love. In my youth, I rebelled against serenity, without realising non-resistance is the strongest power available to us. Serenity is the most powerful inner state we can have. This piece symbolises allowing and self-nurturing. This painting reminds us about the gift of celebration, magical moments and cultivating childlike joy. This piece could be a special gift to a family with a new born baby, or it could work as a symbol for a new beginning, new independence, a new desire being born and a fresh journey getting in motion.
