About The Artwork

3 lines to the sea. Irish slaves were forcibly deported and sold to landlords in the British Colonies. They were owned, controlled, worked, brutalised and farmed. Many died as slaves. Irish Political Prisoners often died in forced labour whilst constructing the empire, after their forced removal from their homeland and families. Irish emigration from The Great Famine also drained Ireland of her children. Emigration, Starvation or covet a sheath of corn, were the only choices for many, with the latter often leading to the forcible export of the Irish man or woman.
