This beautiful jade ginger jar (one of a pair) has featured a few times in my paintings. They belonged to my mother who brought them back from China many decades ago. I’m very much inspired by their stunning jewel colours and delicate art.

My inherited love of gardening and nature has “blossomed” into painting florals in their many depictions. The juxtaposition of vibrant hues and cool shades in nature form artistic images in my mind. I translate these into fanciful still lifes or garden scenes bursting with vibrancy. Sometimes I draw inspiration from Gauguin and Matisse, with their rich decorative arrangements of colour and line. Graphic design in publishing has been my career for many years. Now in my new chapter in life I have come full circle to just enjoying the freedom of painting. What a reward!
