Thomas Harjus is an oil painter who lives on the south shore of Long Island, New York. Long Island is an island 15 miles North to South X 100 miles wide. It is a remnant of the last ice age, with a rocky/ hilly north shore and a sandy flat south shore. As do the vast majority of visual artists, he draws inspiration from his surroundings. Whether it is something as simple as everyday use in the kitchen, a run on a nearby trail, or out on the water, solo sea kayaking.
