This piece is the first part of a triptych about love, sexuality, and mortality. The first piece depicts a gay couple. As the figures are cropped, they are depersonalised, and can be seen in a more conceptual sense, rather than as characters. The raw, unprimed plywood shows through much of the image, giving a natural, organic feel to the flesh of the figures. The golden section between the figures has been scratched and roughened to add a texture, and was painted with a mixture of oil paint, glittery nail polish, and gold glitter, which catch the light, and make this piece truly a beautiful object.
