About The Artwork

My work consists in the reseach of balance and aesthetics. To me art means living the life and the topics I deal with are deepen experiences studies in their own details. The characterizing features of the images I create are the light, the bright colors, the abstraction of the main action and the stillness due to the crystallization of motion. The technique used for the paintings is oil on canvas, while the one used for the drawings is pantone on paper. In both cases I strive for a simple, clean and essential style. I have been studying tennis for about one year and a half. This sport is like a metaphor of life, made of pauses, love and breaks. Competition should be faced respecting the other player; it is an intense duel, the allegory of a tennis match. the subject of the work is a bench under the sun in a tennis court. a bright and flat red is the main color of the picture. at the right corner you can see the tennis court with two blue tones that break the monotony of the red tone. the bench is white because it is unpainted canvas. the choice of the object is due to its aesthetic elegance of the game between the object and its shadows, in such a clean and minimal context as any other tennis court

Mauro Baio was born on the 6th of May 1991 in Lecco, a small town by Lake Como, Italy, situated between the lake and the mountains and characterized by its beautiful views and unique landscapes. This singular environment leads to a natural infatuation for the dichotomy and the contrast between lights and shadows, which derive from the shape of its morphology. This is the setting in which the propension for drawing became a passion and brought the artist to undertake the artistic career. Five years ago, he was diagnosed with a chronic disease known as arthritis. But the discomfort turned into motivation and in 2015 he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, Visual Arts course, faculty of Painting, where he graduated in 2018 with honors. There he was able to increase his profound research for lights through colors.
