About The Artwork

When I made this piece, I was reminded of the colorful, graffiti covered memorials I had seen in Latin America. In my own experiences, I've known Latin Americans to have an unquenchable thirst for life, that which is boldly reflected in the many areas of their various cultures. These cultures uniquely balance living with the inevitable reality that is death, and within the boundaries of these very destinations is an infectious abundance of meaning and happiness. If one could only adopt a fraction of their framework, I'm certain it would lead to fuller living.

I'm a Canadian Artist and Poet, born and raised in Toronto. I started my career in the arts as an actor, having worked in both film and theater. Though I have always loved the craft of acting, I quickly came to realize that my passion was not singularly the form of acting, but instead, was studying the form of pure human expression. Art, in all varieties, is the language of human existence. It is the binder that holds our entire species together, and is a conduit between a two souls, channeling feelings and experiences beyond the articulation of the common tongue. As I began to explore painting, I discovered a new voice, and my own ability to share abstract ideas and experiences. I became fascinated with the vast expanse of tools at my disposal, and the ways in which I could use those tools to tell my own stories. The idea of expressing simple feelings like "happiness through a particular hue of yellow" led me to ask more questions. "If Yellow is a color of happiness, then what is the color of Elated?" How far can I take this new language? What can I show through this palette? My work is a reflection of my discoveries, as I venture through this incredible medium. Each piece, an integral part of a collection of experiences and feelings. A key to the inside of my home.
