What can you see in this art work? Did you notice the pair of affectionate swans, the colorful lotus flowers, the serene river, the cherry blossoms, the lush vegetation and the nostalgic bridge? All these beautiful things might not be visible without the presence of the old but dependable lamp post. The ;amp post is an important yet most often taken for granted part of our life. It brings us light and can deliver us out of darkness. They represent our mentors that mold and guide our paths towards the righteous direction. They can be our parents, our teachers, our coach, religious leaders and true friends. Our mentors inspired me to create this artwork and I dedicate it to them. They are instrumental in bringing out the best in us just like how the lamp post is able to enhance the color and splendor of our environment. I used bright on vibrant colors to represent the beauty inside the hearts of people. Everyone has their own hidden beauty but sometimes we just need someone to help us bring it out.

I spent my childhood years in the picturesque town of Angono, Rizal, dubbed as “Art Capital” of the Philippines. Although a Bachelor of Arts major in English graduate, my early exposure to the visual arts had imbibed in me the love and interest in the visual arts. At an early stage, I taught myself how to paint and developed my own modern and unique style. I use a wide spectrum of colors to portray an everyday life but presented in a whole new perspective. I take my inspiration from my environment. Simple things viewed from a different angle can produce a meaningful work of art. I had already produced and sold numerous paintings mostly on colorful modern cubism using acrylic, water color, pastels and my preferred medium oil on canvas. I use my artistic gift to encourage, promote optimism, to offer hope and to enlighten emotions. This is done by using bright, lively and invigorating colors that aim to uplift and inspire the mood of viewers.
