VIEW IN MY ROOM
I am fascinated by the idea to gain immortality in art. The circle of life and death, genesis, memento mori are the concepts I explore in my artworks using the visual language of Baroque painting. To create this artwork I was inspired by "The Origin of the World" by the French artist Gustave Courbet. I did an hommage to Gustave Courbet`s art work with the same meaning of genesis and circle of life but in my point of view. My series “Forbidden garden” is an artist discourse on immortality and the future. In this series of artworks, a human body is the allegory of Eden Garden where humans lost their immortality. I associate bodies with hidden garden with beautiful fruits and flowers inside we aren`t allowed entry into and see. Also, I compare the Eden Garden with the experimental laboratories where scientists make attempts to gain an immortality by newest biotechnologies. So we have a possibility to gain the immortality we lost in the heavenly garden. Both Eden and laboratory are forbidden territories, both are connected with the topic of immortality. It is a kind of a circle I am curious about and like to reflect on.

I am a London-based visual artist who is deeply inspired by the Baroque epoch and its parallels with the contemporary moment. As a child born during the Chernobyl Disaster, I have always been fascinated by the quest for immortality through science and art, and the vulnerability and strength of the body. My background in Baroque painting and theatre design has heavily influenced my contemporary art practices, allowing me to create bold and punkish works that are not afraid to tackle contemporary issues. My aim is to make painting popular again, just like it was in the Baroque times, creating works that leave a lasting impression and provide catharsis. Drawing inspiration from fashion icons like Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood, I seek to push the boundaries of painting and make it a relevant and contemporary art form. I am an active participant in the London art scene, with my most recent exhibition being a solo show at Hampstead Art School in April 2023. I am constantly seeking to challenge myself and push the boundaries of what is possible with painting, and I hope to continue to do so for many years to come.
