About The Artwork

The Shahada, لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ ٱللَّٰهِ, is an important declaration of faith in Islam and one of the Five Pillars of the faith. The Shahada is a statement of belief in the oneness of God and the prophethood of Muhammad, and it is recited by Muslims in their daily prayers and on special religious occasions. This painting showcases the beauty and elegance of traditional Islamic calligraphy, particularly in the use of the Kufic script style. The use of red and gold colors gives the painting a sense of grandeur and elegance, and the bold, swirling geometric lines of the calligraphy create a striking visual impact. The inscription in this painting is the Shahada, "There is no deity except God, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God" which is a fundamental belief in Islam. Prophet Muhammad informed us that when a person recites the shahada for the first time, firmly believing in it, all of their past sins are wiped away and all the good that they have done remains. Overall, this painting is a powerful and meaningful representation of the core beliefs of Islam, and it is sure to be appreciated by those interested in Islamic calligraphy and the rich cultural heritage of the Muslim world.

Instagram: @paintings_by_noor I had the good fortune to travel all across the Middle East and Europe, meeting people from various walks of life. My name is Mahmood Noor Zafar, I was born in 1956 in Peshawar, Pakistan, and I currently live in London. I have been able to convey my multicultural ideas and engage with many arts and genres because of my ability to speak, read, and write German, English, and Urdu at a native level. My mother's enthusiasm for my artistic ability inspired me to begin my creative path and she gave me a lot of her wisdom and intuition in the process. Following that passion throughout my life, with a particular focus on Islamic art and culture, made me realise that there were philosophical and cultural limitations that prevented me from having a more direct relationship with my creative side. To overcome this, it naturally followed that dedicating my full attention to my work satiated my aspiration. Islam and nature are my sources of inspiration. The countless ways to include calligraphy in a drawing genuinely astound me. I've had the good fortune to visit numerous locations and marvel at amazing mosques and natural wonders all over the world.
