About The Artwork
The Tempest is a visual depiction of inner turbulence most people face from time to time. It is a narrative. Whenever I paint, I lead an internal dialogue with you, the art collector, sharing my thoughts and beliefs, wanting to encourage you to believe in yourself and embrace any challenge you are facing at the moment. When there is a storm in our inside, we tend to feel all is lost and gloomy. Still, when we tap into our inner potential, we can create something beautiful even from a perceived failure. Failures are stepping stones to wisdom and success! Whenever you look at this painting, remember you are strong and valuable, capable of succeeding and creating great things in your life! The Tempest is painted with high quality professional acrylics (Schmincke) on board. The colours are cool, with dominant turquoise, grey and black. Dark red of flowers creates interesting statement points. The smooth surface of the board allows for intricate details of patterns and structures. It is a portrait of a woman or a force of nature or inner strength. Or rather to say, woman is a force of nature with immense inner strength :) I do not provide my paintings with frames as I believe framing is strictly a matter of personal style and preference. Nevertheless, if you prefer the artwork framed, arrangements can be made to accommodate your framing needs.

It is a shot heavenwards and a door slightly ajar to the world beyond our everyday worries. Drawing from the wisdom and the narrative of fairy tales, she paints a "3-D communication map" that would lead individuals above, toward, and within. Her creative process is often meditation that slowly unfolds into an idea or a concept she wants to convey via an artistic metaphor. Other times, it's an instant whim of inspiration triggered by seeing something that captures her attention and gets her associations reeling. Lucy uses acrylics, ink, gold paint, and sometimes collage. She works on canvas or a mounting board. She uses the peaceful and meditative combination of blue, turquoise, and green with dashes of wine red or pink. She depicts suggestions of meaning and nudges toward developing our own stories. She wants to make people think. Her painting style goes against the contemporary trend of shocking art. She offers a chance to relax, reflect, and have our minds refreshed to come up with new solutions to our everyday challenges. Lucy lives with her husband and four daughters in Slovakia, in a straw bale house in the countryside, and, from time to time, in Bratislava, her hometown.
