A hundred years ago there were over 100,000 tigers in the wild. Today there are as few as 3,200. Tigers have a long history of representation in Indian history and in its art. Tiger being the national emblem and the national animal of India, is even worshiped in this land. Tigers have been featured throughout history extensively in Indian art. Seen ages it has been a symbol of magnificence, power, beauty and fierceness. Tigers have a significance in Hindu religion as an animal vehicle for the goddess Durga. They've been symbols on flags for the royals in India. This illustration was inspired by miniature paintings found in India. The simplicity of the lines, the vibrant colors and the folk mirror art brings this piece together and can be placed in any modern settings.

My collection is a summary of a combination, made from the past and the now. Our destiny of living between two worlds, finding our space and voice. As an artist, I explore the two worlds, merge them together to bring fluency and unity on each canvas. I combined the vividly colored, highly stylized and richly detailed elements of a traditional miniature paintings with monotone, carefree, bold lines of street art and design. Going beyond familiar East- West comparisons, my work shows the audience a very rich and infinite exploration of visual vocabulary.
