About The Artwork

"The Way Life Should Be," a compelling canvas from Alexander Levich's "Weekend" series, stands as a large testament to the artist's ability to depict more than a mere moment in time. Levich translates a personal romantic memory into a universal tableau of solitude and togetherness. In this piece, the viewer is presented with a contrast of the bleak, swirling tempest of a late November snow with the comforting seclusion of a lovers' retreat. Levich masterfully employs a delicate interplay of light and shadow to contrast the vastness of the snowy landscape with the intimate warmth suggested by the distant dwelling. His brushstrokes create a world suspended in tranquility, where the elements of a stark winter are harmoniously balanced with the suggestion of human warmth. The painting stands as an invitation to explore the internal landscapes that art can illuminate, consistent with Levich's artistic philosophy of using art as a conduit to the soul.

What is the most important thing in life? It's not the external surroundings but our inner world. Painting serves as the key that unlocks this realm. By following this path, one learns not just to look, but to truly SEE. Through my art, I delve into profound content. Painting becomes a medium of communication, a canvas for thoughts. The questions are always deeper than the answers, and the answers are discoveries we make within ourselves. My paintings serve as guides, leading you along the pathways of your own thoughts. I aim to offer you the joy of connecting with your inner world, the luxury of harmony and solitude in communication with yourself. I was born in 1963 in Kyiv, Ukraine, and in 1987, I graduated from the painting faculty of the Kyiv Art Academy, under the guidance of Professor A.M. Lopukhov. Since 1990, I have been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. As a professional artist with over 30 years of experience, my artistic journey can be divided into two main periods. The first period, which spanned over 20 years after my graduation, can be described as "Metarealism." The second period, which I refer to as my "return to realism," began around 2010, you may explore my artworks from both periods showcased here. If you would like to delve deeper into my portfolio, view additional paintings beyond those displayed on this website, or if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me directly via email at a.levich@protonmail.com. You are also warmly welcome to visit my studio in Kyiv. Thank you sincerely for your interest.
