The Wind Print

In Europe, there are very few virgin forests left. Those that remain have trees that, just as fairytales, are as old as time. When I walk past a tall, grand tree, I cannot help but imagine how many other people walked around it, how many of those people tried to break its branches, and how many tried to give it water. The old trees are a living library of our world. They do not need to be transformed into books, as they are already a vast source of knowledge. An old tree lived as much as it could see future become history. And you can see this in every branch, in every leaf, in every bird that finds a home in that tree. When you have seen so much, there is something majestic, and yet humble, in their stature. Why? Only those of their own kind may know the answer to this question. For "Ancient Knowledge", I used a mix of acrylic colours and 3D contour liners to highlight the life and grace that such a tree possesses. And I hope this painting will give you at least a of what nature’s knowledge might look like. The time passes over such ancient trees like a cool breeze of wind, which carries to them even more stories to catch between their branches.
