In this house it is assumed that the famous vampire, Count Dracula, was born. Vlad III Dracula, known as Vlad the Impaler (Romanian: Vlad Țepeș or Vlad Dracula 1428/31 – 1476/77), was Voivode of Wallachia three times between 1448 and his death. He is often considered one of the most important rulers in Wallachian history and a national hero of Romania. The house is located in the Square of the Council Tower in Sighisoara. In all likelihood Vlad lived here until he was 4 years old, because his father lived between 1431-1436 in the fortress-city of Sighisoara. Currently there is a bar and a restaurant in the house.
