About The Artwork

Tui Harmony 48 inch by 60 inch, by 1.5 inch cotton canvas Acrylic painting Photos taken with Samsung NX300 20 megapixels “Everywhere you are you belong, speak up, what you have to say is important.” As the Tui flies through the forest, it mingles easily with all of the other birdlife and in doing so, it extrudes confidence and peace. It just announces itself ever so abruptly, whilst singing it’s beautiful bird song to the forest and its friends “I have arrived and I belong.” I painted this as it was a healing process for me, wanting acceptance in a place I knew that I would never truly find it. We live in such a diverse world, which includes race, ethnic origin and colour, religion and creed, sexual orientation, age and ability, your socio-economic status, your upbringing (good or bad) to name but a few. As evolving people in an ever-changing world, the thing that we all tend to seek is acceptance of ourselves and others. It is the same difference that causes wars and intolerance throughout the world. To be accepted for who you are and to feel that you belong, no matter what and understanding people and their backgrounds is crucial to personal and society's growth. If we could all achieve the confidence and harmony of the Tui, we would all be in such a good place. The Tui is a New Zealand bird. Its spiritual meaning has it that because of its personality, the Tui is associated with life fulfilment, confidence and spiritual harmony. In Māori culture the Tui has powerful significance; in that, they act as messengers to the gods in the heavens. I painted this with lots of colours, as colour makes me happy and I incorporated the colours of nature. I wanted the Tui to be seen, hence more focus is on the head and yet I wanted it to be obscure and merge into the picture. I think I achieved this. MATERIALS: It is painted with high-quality acrylic Golden paint and medium on high-quality cotton canvas. A thin layer of varnish protects the artwork against UV light and dust. SIGNATURE: It is signed on the front right-hand side and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. HANG: The artwork is stretched on a wooden frame and a wire is provided. It is painted white on the edges but has staples at the back. See at the detailed photos. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the artist. ---------------------------------- "Bright colours and the colours of nature inspire me the most. I like to push my art and I am trying to create my own style. I let the painting talk to me and direct me in an intuitive way to paint freely what my emotions want to express. Painting is my happy place and I hope you see this in my artwork. It’s not unusual for me to dream how I would like to paint a painting and I often pour these dreams and emotions onto the canvas. Each painting has a point where the canvas and paint have an intuitive synergy and through the language of art, it seems to communicate with me. Each painting tends to tell a story, which is unique to me, but I feel it can be easily understood by all. I mostly use acrylic golden paints, medium and sometimes inks. I work layer after layer, creating transparencies, revealing beautiful textures and design elements. I want you to be able to see, but also feel the artwork, as it’s a collaboration of sight and touch. I strive to create an ethereal element, that makes the viewer look deeper into the picture. My artwork evokes joy and I want you to feel the joy I feel when you look at this painting. It’s an invitation into the works of my emotions, which are unique, joyous, passionate and full of energy. It is my take on abstract expressionism. Trish has always had an artistic streak, making decorative candle holders, furniture and other artefacts. Her friends would ask her to make some for them also. In 2018 Trish was diagnosed with breast cancer and through her subsequent journey, she rekindled her artistic purpose and began painting. She likes to paint using bright colours and things which give her joy. All her paintings are intuitive from the heart and are the product of many many hours of painstaking work, and many layers. Trish loves textures and currently paints in acrylic with glazing on canvas using a variety of techniques, such as impasto or sgraffito, and also often includes gold leaf or other materials.
