Walking through the woods to a swimming hole in Vermont at the height of summer. Distant voices echo off the ledges and mix with the sound of cascading falls. A water-cooled breeze feels as if its enriched with concentrated oxygen, giving you relief from the hot summer air. This measures 30" x 38" on a 1.5" hollow wood panel. It has a simple wood lattice frame, is wired and ready to hang. Please look at the images carefully. This is painted loosely with quick brushstrokes in a painterly manner. About the artist: Stephen Remick was born and raised in Vermont. He resides in a coastal, New England town with his wife, Anne Carrozza Remick, who is also an artist on saatchiart.com. Steve's paintings are in private collections all over the U.S. and abroad.

I'm painting my back yard and the world beyond. Familiar, everyday sights that may only get a peripheral, passing glimpse. In-the-moment scenes… a yard sale, a backyard tree house, or a new house foundation under construction and filled with potential. Signs of prior lives… a centuries old, crumbling foundation who's long gone owner held that same potential as today’s builder, a cemetery reclaimed by the woods. Trying to guide the viewer to think in a deeper way, to realize our connection to each other, our environment, our past, and our future. Also re-connecting with an abstract, color-field series from the early 2000's, with inspiration drawn from land and sky and the abstract expressionist movement. In between all that, plein air painting when I can. Nothing beats painting from life. Born and raised in Vermont, currently living in Massachusetts.
