About The Artwork
I'm inspired by all the great figurative artists through art history. I always list Degas, Fortuny, and George Bellows, but there are many more. I wanted to learn to paint with oil paints. I'm using fashion shoot images as models. Composition and color are already taken care of. Therefore I can concentrate on more of the painting skills. I hope the viewer will look at my work as something with beauty and color. I believe they will feel something, but everyone is unique, so there are no predictions from me as to what.

Scott Gillis is an illustrator and fine artist living in New York City, downtown near Soho. Gillis was born in Kenmore, NY and grew up in North Tonawanda; near Buffalo and Niagara Falls, New York State. He moved to New York City after graduating from school and began working as a free lance illustrator for various magazines and a few record companies. Scott also played guitar in an underground New York band called Konk, whose music can be found at London Soul Jazz.
