About The Artwork
This is an 80 x 60cm oil painting of an Andalusian landscape. It's a view where I used to walk regularly... looking up at a wild and rocky terrace to an almond tree, with olive trees in the background. I wanted to capture the shapes of the tree trunks. I worked from a photo initially, to get the composition - then I went freestyle with the colours, and was open to what happened. I applied the paint directly with my fingers, making fast movements. I really enjoyed the creative experience. This painting has thick juicy paint all over it, like how I spread my butter on toast. It doesn’t have to be a good painting for the magic to come through.
