Zahra Mixed Media 2012 This painting is part of a series of others portraying Amazigh (Berber) Jewish women whom the artist believes hold what she calls a triple minority status; These are women in a gendered society, Amazigh in an Arabized land and Jewish in a Muslim state. The painting aims to not only tell the story of Amazigh Jewish women but also draw on their similarities with Muslim women in the Maghreb and to help celebrate these women for their immense contribution to contemporary North-African culture.
