"Zurich Wiedikon" was painted in my studio on 300 g, 100% cotton, archival quality, rough Arches paper, using professional quality watercolor paints. Painting depicts a city scene from today, a central Zurich district with a famous St. Jakob church in the background. This place was the site of a sick-house outside the town of Zurich and an associated chapel since the 11th century. The first historical mention of the St. Jakob church dates to 1221. It was the site of the Battle of St. Jakob an der Sihl in 1443. In 1677, the sick-house was transformed into a Pfrundhaus (senior citizens' residence), disestablished in 1842. The current St. Jakob church building was inaugurated in 1901 (source Wikipedia). Painting size approx 38x28 cm Your painting will be carefully packed, protected and shipped in an eco-friendly cardboard box and 100% recyclable packaging. As an additional protection and bonus, painting will be ready to hang: it comes framed in a very simple, but nice fibreboard frame. Passepartout included as well. Pasepartout and frame size 50x40 cm (both included in the price) PLEASE NOTE: I try to ensure that photos of my paintings are as life-like as possible. Since every monitor or mobile display has a different capability to display colors, please understand that actual color may vary slightly.

Milos Petkovic (born 1961 in Zemun, Serbia) is fascinated by light and atmosphere which is the driving force for him to paint. He specialized in watercolors, loving the sense of freedom and spontaneity that this medium can offer. Watercolors are not meant to be controlled, but to let flow. That is why Petkovic just guides its course to create what he feels is artistically beautiful. He mainly paints in a semi-realistic, impressionist style, using both transparent and opaque watercolors that highlight the play of lights and shades, usually finishing the painting with spontaneous, bold, and dry brushstrokes. Petkovic finds beauty in the commonplaces – streets, public transport, pubs, flashes of light on a wet asphalt…and tries to make them to tell a simple everyday life story. After Serbia and New Zealand, he currently lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland.
