About The Artwork

'Behind the Curtain’ is part of a series taken in Venice, Italy, in the Spring. The light outside was remarkable with piercing blue skies. The inside of buildings were kept in the shade to cool the air. This moment captures a women standing quietly looking out of the window at the canal below. The sunlight illuminates her profile without revealing her face. The contrasting light makes this image feel intimate and draws you into the figures viewpoint even though you can’t see what she looks at behind the curtain. The use of light and shade is reminiscent of the seventeenth century Dutch painter Vermeer. Limited Edition of 10, signed and numbered. Unframed. Print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Fine Art Paper (100% cotton, 308 g/m2). -Inch: Print: 19.7x19.7inch (photograph: 17.7x13inch) -Cm: Print: 50x50cm (photograph: 45x33cm)

Vincent Dupont-Blackshaw has been working as a professional photographer for the past four years. Trained in the arts, he lives between Paris and London. His work takes him across the world, seeking stories of new places to share with his audience. From these travels he brings back unique memories of the moments he captures in new places. “I look for moments that are quietly unique. Often an isolated thing or person in an environment that on first glance is ordinary but on second glance tells a subtle story. Light plays an essential part of how I see that story being told, creating a mood and provoking feeling in each image. As a travel photographer, I strive to catch the essence of the place I am in at that exact time. My role is to tell a story of that place for people to connect with.”
