About The Artwork

Magdalena Urbanska´s practice and perspective have been profoundly influenced by the teachings of a buddhist master, Thich Nhat Hanh. This particular installation recalls the practice of being present and aware, while calmly acknowledging and accepting feelings, thoughts and sensations. Modestly set table, with a white linen cloth and a simple table ware, contrasts with hundreds of tiny crystal stones. While the sparkling stones might represent both vanity and spiritual connection between a human and the Earth, excess or purity and stability, there are also deeper queries for casual daily practices, like eating or drinking, perceptions of the substance and the query of the emptiness meaning.
