About The Artwork

An iconic shot of the Stardust Resort & Casino neon sign in Las Vegas, which existed on the Strip from 1958 to 2007. It was imploded on March 13, 2007 at 2.33am so I was extremely fortunate to get this shot of the original signage....and against the most perfect blue sky. As you can see, this bold and colourful image is extremely powerful with it's clean and defined lines, retaining a strong sense of fun and an element of kitsch even though the subject matter in itself is quite simple. Toula Mavridou-Messer is a contemporary and fine art photographer working primarily in the UK, Europe, and America. She has exhibited her work at galleries and art fairs and is a proud Saatchi Art 'Artist of Recognition,' having had her images curated into Saatchi Art collections. Toula is inspired by the wonder of the everyday world around her; from landscapes to nature and wildlife. As Toula says, "I am constantly in a state of wonderment at the beauty, magic, intrigue, and humour of the world around us. Art is how your heart sees things, isn't it? Sometimes everything is clear and crisp, other times it seems black and white but most of the time it's filled with joy and happiness. My heart has captured every image that you see in my portfolio. Hopefully, one or two will capture yours, too."
