About The Artwork

^ Click on Prints (next to where it says Original) to see the print details ^ A lovely bright bouquet of sunflowers from our local farm shop were the inspiration for this picture. So many sunflowers have made delightful pictures over the years, I thought I would create my own vision of this popular subject. This artwork is part of a series I created during a study project exploring the possible cross-over between photography and cubist paintings of the early 20th Century, using my own photographs of everyday objects. Analytical Cubism depicts a 3D subject in time and space from many viewpoints, much like a person would experience a subject in real life. These different viewpoints are assembled onto a 2D surface to give a more holistic representation of the subject. We enjoyed the colours and shapes of the flowers seen from many different aspects and lighting conditions. The composition is arranged in an analytical cubist style with a simple grid. The picture follows the ideas of analytical cubism by representing the subject from different aspects, much like one would experience them in real life. Simon Kidd

I help bring interest to interior spaces through creative and dramatic fine art pictures. I have been a creator all my life from a childhood with construction toys and later as a professional engineer. Having been gifted my first camera in 1969, I have maintained an interest in photography since then, studying the subject more seriously in recent years. I specialise in capturing ordinary subjects and making them extra ordinary using closeups, lighting, colour or editing to help create mood, inspiration, or interesting talking points. I have a passion for taking time to notice the natural beauty that surrounds us, from the depths of space to the small creatures sharing our lives. In my work I try to encourage the viewer to see the ‘everyday’ in a new light by emphasising the extraordinary nature of its complexity or including it an arrangement to suggest an idea or a concept.
