The city of Portland, divided by the Willamette River, has 12 distinct bridges connecting the east and west sides. The Burnside bridge is a prominent central bridge that also demarcates the north and south sides of the city. The Burnside Bridge is the setting for a short film called "Radius" that I created as a young filmmaker with my brother. A bascule leaf bridge that opens often for passing ships, the unsettling image of the road torn from its normal topography into a perpendicular distortion in the landscape offers an array of striking compositions. This and several other photos were taking while waiting at the bridge at dusk. In the background is the Steel Bridge. Here's a link to the short film "Radius": https://vimeo.com/11798221
