About The Artwork

As an urban artist immersed in the dynamic pulse of city life, my creative journey constantly seeks fresh materials and innovative ways to portray the ever-evolving zeitgeist. Each day brings forth new challenges, and within the bustling metropolis, these challenges are met with a myriad of solutions. In this concrete jungle, a harmonious symphony of labor and service resonates from dawn till dusk.. The night, adorned with enigmatic patches of darkness, warns against venturing into certain perilous areas, yet at the same time, it showcases the stars – a rare sight amidst the city's light pollution. In my artistic exploration, I embrace a conscious connection with the global community, embracing a Zero Waste mindset. I find inspiration in repurposing empty beverage bottles, elevating them to vessels of storytelling. Through the skillful application of acrylic and spray paint, I breathe new life and purpose into these discarded artifacts. Each bottle, meticulously cleaned and hand-painted, becomes a conduit for narratives that mirror the ever-present challenge of environmental stewardship. My art endeavors to provoke introspection and inspire a deeper understanding of our collective responsibility to reuse, repurpose, recycle, and reduce. By transforming these simple bottles into vessels of creativity and expression, I strive to encapsulate the essence of urban existence and contribute to the visual tapestry that reflects the vibrant heartbeat of our beloved Kampala city.

Hello, I am Kizito G. Mubanda, an artist hailing from the serene Ssese Islands in Uganda. For me, art is not just a canvas or a brush; it is a medium to communicate the spirit of the times, particularly when it comes to climate action and recycling. My thought process starts with engaging in conversations with the world around me, actively listening to its stories, and then translating those narratives into my artworks. Nature and environment conservation serve as profound inspiration for my creations. The vibrant colors and interplay of light in the natural world infuse my pieces with a sense of awe and wonder. I believe that as artists, we have a crucial role in raising awareness about the pressing need to protect our planet and promote sustainable practices. Through my art, I aim to celebrate the beauty of our environment while conveying the importance of preserving it for future generations. Having a background in design, I embarked on my artistic journey three years ago. The transition from design to drawing and painting has been both fulfilling and challenging, but it's a path I wholeheartedly embraced. Every piece I create is a labor of love, be it finished in minutes or months. I am discerning about the work I share, ensuring that it evokes emotions and resonates deeply with its viewers. I firmly believe that art is meant to inspire new conversations, provoke thought, and spur action. I am grateful for the blessing to create art that brings joy and is open for sharing with the world. My aspiration is to make you feel great, loved, and more alive when you encounter my creations, my artistic babies. I am eager to connect with you, regardless of where you are in the world. The power of art knows no bounds, and I hope that our meeting, whether virtually or in person, will spark a meaningful exchange. Together, through the language of art, we can foster positive change and build a better world for all. Thank you for taking the time to explore my artistic journey, and I look forward to the opportunity to sharing my art with you. With warm regards and blessings, George Kizito
