Limited Edition number 2 of 10 Material: Archival pigment print, Hahnemühle - Photo Rag - Ultra Smooth – 100% cotton – 305 gram/m2 In the morning of October the 30th 2010 I climbed the 94 meter high North-West tower of the bridge. It was still dark when I arrived at the top. At 7:30AM the sun rose above Brooklyn. Shortly after, I started to photograph the landscape of New York. To get a good view of the East River I had to get scarily close to the edge of the little roof I was on. When I saw a security camera I was quite startled but I discovered it was permanently directed towards the road deck. The weather was clear and the early morning sun shed beautiful light on landmarks like the Woolworth Building, the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty. The work is not manipulated but digitally composed of about 100 photographs.

The works of Wouter van Buuren (the Netherlands, 1972) are reflections on the experience of space and time. Van Buuren explores new ways to represent the landscape and the experience of being in it and traveling through. The resulting works are collages of photographs which are often shot from high and hard to access locations. These locations include rooftops, bridges and electricity towers. Fragments of the vantage points are often present in the work. The collages are digitally composed but the image is never manipulated. Van Buuren’s work is layered in the sense that it does not only reconstruct the landscape but also reflects its own creation process. The work reflects on the notion of perception itself.
