"Clutch" Print

"Clutch" is a textile bas-relief in an abstract art style inspired by the sculptures of Louise Bourgeois. A canvas of pure high-quality wool (100%) stretched over a wooden stretcher natural wild. The central module is attached to it and protrudes 8 cm above the base. The skeleton of the central unit is moulded from paper mache from disposable egg trays. They are formed from recycled paper and fully correspond to my creative decision. After all, birds or insects lay their eggs, forming a clutch. The module is covered with designer dyed natural silk, which goes over to the base of the stretcher. I used art embroidery for the background, and I sewed and quilted all the details by hand, in the same style. Decorating is with textured wool fiber, silk, fabrics and threads, textile filler and beads from natural semi-precious stones and wood. Its purpose is to achieve similarity with the natural wild. Fiber and fabrics extend beyond the stretcher 74x63 cm, so the actual dimensions of the bas-relief are slightly larger than the stretcher. So the overall size with protruding parts is 95x65x10 cm. The ends of the stretchers are a continuation of the work, so they do not need additional construction. The clutch of eggs is a method of reproduction in which the development of the embryo and the release of the cub from the egg occurs outside the mother's body. But the condition for the birth of new life is the warmth and safety of the eggs' clutch. I think this is a miracle and an incomprehensible secret of nature, mysterious and fascinating. I wanted to share and express my admiration and surprise with the help of textile fiber and fabric.
